Nov 29, 1947 — Dec 26, 2022
Saltillo
SALTILLO - Tommy Joe Orsborn, 75, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born to a farmer and homemaker in rural Saltillo on November 29, 1947, Tommy Joe Orsborn came into this world with a purpose: to brighten as many lives as possible. After graduating from Saltillo High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on April 1, 1966, and fought in the Vietnam War. He met the love of his life, Jenny, or as he called her "the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen," in El Paso, Texas. They had two sons, Brian and Chris.
After a brief residence in Little Rock, he returned home with his family, just a few yards from where he was born, and began a long, storied career as a premiere car salesman. He was the lead salesman and mentor at Sam Stevens Motors where he touched the lives of thousands. In his 35-year career, he sold hundreds, if not thousands, of cars. When he met somebody, they were a life-long friend. He gifted them with laughter, a nickname, and a better day. He lived out the rest of his years in Amory, Mississippi, with his wife and helped build Brian Motors with his son.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 30, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jenny Orsborn; two sons, Brian Orsborn (Melissa) of Amory and Chris Orsborn (Brooke) of Mooreville; three grandchildren, Zack Orsborn, Kateland Haynes (Cole), and Cohen Orsborn; and two great-grandchildren, Ada Haynes and Wilder Haynes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Allie Price Orsborn; three brothers, Reginald "Bud" Orsborn, Troy Orsborn, and Doug Orsborn; and two sisters, Lois Patterson and Mary Sue Burch.
Pallbearers will be Gary Stanford, Brad Stanford, Guy Patterson, Jr., Shane Conway, Michael Nails, and Allen Hughes.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 29, and from noon until service time Friday, December 30, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
