Obituary

GOLDEN - Sharon Kay Tharp Pounders, a beloved soul—mother, wife, and teacher, passed peacefully from this world at her residence and childhood home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Sharon was a polio and cancer survivor. She completed her post-graduate education at Mississippi State University, and afterwards taught English and elementary education before becoming a mother. Her love for music and teaching was a life-long pursuit as she trained many young minds throughout the years to play piano. In addition to piano, she also played the guitar, accordion, and organ. Her smile and sense of humor will never be replaced.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. David Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Belmont City Cemetery.

Sharon is survived by her son, Brian Stanley Pounders; her daughter, Anna Elizabeth Goldsby (Aaron); her three grandchildren, Nikolas Brian Pounders, Amberlee Marie Goldsby, and Brenlee Scott Goldsby; and her bountiful array of pets.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Dexter Pounders; her two sisters, Brenda Tharp and Judy Cole; her parents, Hubert and Berniece Hubbard Tharp.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
