MANTACHIE - James Randall "Pete" Nichols, born August 6, 1967, died suddenly on Friday, September 23, 2022, after a brief illness. A businessman by trade, Pete has owned and operated bail bonding, restaurant, towing, and trucking businesses.

Pete graduated from Mantachie High School in 1985 and pursued work in business, thereafter.  In the business world, most knew Pete as a serious man, but he also prided himself on practical jokes and picking on others. Pete was a generous man and always went out of his way to help others in need.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 25, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Joseph Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pete is survived by one daughter, Meghan Guin (Thomas) of Mantachie; his mother, Addie Nichols, and three siblings, Dennis Nichols, Linda Nichols, and Lisa McCarver, all of Mantachie; his grandchildren, MaKennah Guin, Hannah Guin, Liam Guin, Mila Guin, and Sayla Guin; a host of nieces and nephews, Blake Nichols, Chase Nichols (Crystal), Jack Nichols (Morgan), Michael Allen Witcher (Alanna), Brandon Witcher (Erica), and Brittany Scruggs (Matt); and special friends, Buck Franks, Sammy McCreary and Milton Billips.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lamar Nichols.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
