Lera Fay Smith, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born October 25, 1940, to Troy Cletus and Ouida Moore Harris. She enjoyed playing basketball for the Houston Community Hurricanes and later at Itawamba Agriculture High School. She retired from Tupelo Eye Center as an ophthalmologist after working there for 50 years. She was an active member of the Ozark Methodist Church. She enjoyed going on church trips, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Private services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Methodist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Craig Smith (Sherry) of Mantachie; two grandchildren, Tori Funderburk (Dayton) and Drake Smith; three great grandchildren, Sawyer Smith, Rhett Funderburk, and Trace Funderburk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Smith; one grandson, Devin Smith; one brother, Larry Harris; one sister, Bobbie Nell Pitts; and her parents.
