DORSEY - Eleanor Joyce Cooley, 86, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit. She was born November 18, 1932, in Homestead, Florida, to Jack and Charlotte Rebecca Danzy Dolar. She married BIll Cooley on July 30, 1955. She worked at a grocery store and the Corner Shoe Store, and spent 20 years at the end of the line at the Dorsey school cafeteria. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Joyce, as she was lovingly known by the kids at school and those she took home with her after school each day, believed in giving extra attention to those she felt needed it, and she was the official tooth-puller. She enjoyed her son's sports activities.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 10, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Kevin Clayton and Bro. John Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Jan Hebert (Howard) of Dorsey, Allen Cooley of Smithville, and Becky (Tony) Taylor of Fulton; eight grandchildren, Leah Hebert, Ed Hebert (Melanie), Rebekah Hebert, Sarah Hamilton (Chris), Mallory Raines (Josh), Martha Grace Cooley, Andrew Taylor, and Eli Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Scott Hebert, Anna Woods Hebert, Hadley Grace Hebert, and Mary Neal Hebert; two brothers, Tommy Dolar of Dothan, Ala., and Charles Dolar of California; one sister, Jean Singer of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a special friend, Mrs. Grace Riley, who has been her roommate at the Meadows for the past several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Allen "Bill" Cooley; her daughter-in-law, Holly Hood Cooley; her parents; two brothers, Elbert Dolar and Jack Dolar, Jr.; and two sisters, Ruby Greer and Vivian Ladd.

Pallbearers will be Andy Tatum, Bill Howell, Jeff Gray, Billy Trotter, Ed Hebert, and Andrew Taylor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 9, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special word of appreciation to the employees of the Fox Meadows Hall of The Meadows for helping take care of their mama, as well as the staff of the NMMC Hospice Unit for making the last couple of days as comfortable as possible for her.
