SALTILLO - John Ezra Rowland, Sr., 80, died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1938, in Hazlehurst, Georgia, to John Henry "Sambo" Rowland and Nancy Elizabeth "Bessie" Brewer Rowland. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in civil service. He was a locksmith and a contract roofer, among many things. He was a Baptist in belief.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include one son, Richard Rowland (Leah) of Baldwyn; two daughters, Tina McLendon (Bobby Joe) of Hattiesburg and Teresa Brigman (Eric) of Baldwyn; three brothers, Jimmy Rowland of Atlanta, GA, and Donnie Rowland and Newburn Rowland, both of Hazlehurst, GA; two sisters, Emma Childers of Jacksonville, FL, and Marti Rowland of Hazlehurst, GA; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ann Rowland; one son, John Rowland II; his parents; and three brothers, Milledge, Harry, and Bobby Rowland.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Robinson, Alex Rowland, Brandon Rowland, Christopher Bishop, Johnathan Rowland, and Michael Palmer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the funeral home.
