TREMONT – Jerry Rodgers "Mousey" Jones, 75, died Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Courtyards Nursing Facility. He was born January 10, 1944, in Tremont to John Chesser and Alice Pauline Thomas Jones and was given the nickname Mousey shortly thereafter by his dad. He worked many years finishing sheetrock and was known as the Mississippi mud man. He was a born-again child of God and loved telling others about Jesus. He enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball and football, and carrying on a conversation with anyone willing to talk. He dearly loved his family and friends; and in return, was loved by many.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with his nephew Bro. Joseph Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Tremont.
He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Jones and Randy Jones, both of Fulton, and Cameron Mills of New Hampshire; three daughters, Gerrie Walters (Jon) and Laura Williams (Jonathan), both of Olive Branch, and Dr. Jessica Mills Woods (Bruce) of New Hampshire; his former wife, best friend, and devoted caregiver until the end, Lorna Jones, of Fulton; one brother, Lowell "Bud" Jones (Dorothy) of Winthrop Harbor, IL; one sister, Polly Marsh (Bill) of Houghton Lake, MI; 8 grandchildren, Catherine Barham, Olivia Williams, Jaxon Williams, Vivian Williams, Alie Woods, Lexi Woods, Shane McDonald, and Jennifer Guin.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Guin; an infant granddaughter, Abigail Nabors; his parents; five brothers, Jack, J.C., Bill, Jim, and Joe Jones; one sister, Mary Pedersen; and his former wife, Martha Joan Jones.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time and after the service on Saturday, June 8, at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
