FULTON - Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Liles, 75, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, leaving a legacy of courage and strength.  He was born June 14, 1950, in Mobile, Alabama, to Elie Liles, Jr. and Hellon Bowdoin.  After finishing Murphy High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam.  During his military service, Jerry was awarded both the Purple Heart for wounds sustained during combat and the Bronze Star in recognition of heroic and commendable service.  These honors reflect not only his courage under fire but his commitment to his fellow service members.

Jerry was married to Vanessa Ramey Liles for 53 years, where together they had three daughters. He was employed by F.L. Crane and Sons, from where he retired after 35 years of service.  In his early years, Jerry enjoyed tinkering with automobiles and mud racing.  He was also an avid deer hunter and gun enthusiast, and also enjoyed building things as well as working with his hands.  His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family he leaves behind.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Vanessa Ramey Liles; two daughters, Claudia Elizabeth "Libby" Bridges and her husband Doug, and Mary Kathryn "Katy" Loague and her husband Jon, all of Fulton, MS.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ramey Reaves Bridges, Michaela Elizabeth Campbell and husband Nicholas, Jon Walker Loague, and Jack Relder Loague; and one brother, Elie "Buddy" Liles III of Grand Bay, AL.

Jerry was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Marie Liles; parents, Elie Liles, Jr., and Hellon Langlinais; his sister, Brenda Carol Touchstone; his grandparents, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Forrest and Fannie Ramey.

There will be a private family viewing and a public graveside service for family and friends to honor his military service at 2 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Itawamba Memorial Gardens, with Bro. Doug Bridges officiating.  McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS, or to the disabled veterans.
