Obituary

James Ray "Cotton" Cooper, 84, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born April 7, 1940, to Loanzo Eugene and Lena Ozelle Nanney Cooper. He did construction work, mostly driving a bull dozier. He enjoyed watching television, walking, and he loved his cats.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery in Peppertown.

Survivors include one son, Billy Cooper of Hawaii; a special friend and caregiver, Lisa Wood, and her children, Cody Wood and Brandon Lyons, and her mother Patricia Waddell; a special niece, Marsha Cardenas; special friend, Ted Wood; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Fannie Laura Turman, Bobbie Holloway, Janet Scribner, and Mary Cooper; two brothers, Paul Wayne Cooper and Jimmy Eugene Cooper; and Lisa's daughter, Brittany Lyons Scott; and his parents.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
