MANTACHIE - James Mackey Copeland, jack-of-all-trades, jokester, and just an all-around good guy, went to be with his Lord on June 11, 2022, after a sudden illness. James was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on May 28, 1960, and lived all around the northern part of Illinois as a child and teenager. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in Illinois. Settling back in Mississippi in the early 1990s, he worked as an EMT at NMMC for ten years, worked in manufacturing at Action, and owned his own construction company, Copeland Roofing. He was a member of Shiloh Southern Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Roxie Ledlow, brother Joey Ledlow, sisters Sheila Madsen and Debbie Ledlow, and one son, Josh Copeland.

He is survived by his longtime companion Joyce Dozier, two brothers, Dale (Lynne) and Jimmy Ledlow. Also, by two sons Justin (Leah) and Jason (Santana) Copeland. Grandchildren include Caroline, Chloe and Sadie Copeland, Kyleigh and Cage Copeland, and Luna Joy Ruiz-Dozier and Sophie June Cardenas along with his special caregiver, Winnie Strange and too many cousins to list.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie, MS, with Bro. Robert Humphres officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dale Ledlow, Jimmy Ledlow, and Josh Cardenas. Honorary pallbearers will be the men from Shiloh Southern Baptist Church.
