Obituary

FULTON - Homer Lee Awtrey, 68, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born September 10, 1950, in West Point to Robert O. and Algie Knox Awtrey. He retired as a lab technician from West Lake Chemical Company in Aberdeen after 38 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He loved photography, listening to music, fishing, and reading his bible.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jackie Gray and Bro. R.D. Cline officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ann Gray Awtrey of Fulton; two sons, Chris Awtrey and Josh Awtrey (Morgan), both of Amory; one sister, Mary Holder of Vardaman; and two grandchildren, Cayden Snelgrove and Grayson Awtrey.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Paige Awtrey Snelgrove, and his parents.

His nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the funeral home.
