Obituary

MANTACHIE - Dalton Dee Brown, 95, died Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Charleston Place Assisted Living Facility in Fulton, MS, after a brief illness. He was born May 16, 1930, in Itawamba County to Paul and Letha Burcham Brown. He attended Itawamba Junior College and Wood Junior College during his adult life.  He was a retired United Methodist preacher who has served many churches in the North MS area. He was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.  Up until the last couple years he enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, fishing, dancing, playing checkers, and most of all spending time with his family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Frank Panzrino and Bro. Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Hawkins (Dorman) of Mantachie; one son, Larry Dee Brown (Kris) of the Peaceful Valley community; three grandchildren, Tiffany Nicole Aderholt (Charles), and Amanda Bridges (Jason), both of Mantachie, and Jesse Hawkins (Shelia) of Dorsey; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Bowden, Riley Bridges, and Darcy Bridges, all of Mantachie; and seven great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Exie Hawkins Brown, in 2009. He was the last of nine siblings, John Kenyon Brown, Vera Mae Patrick, Wilburn Ray Brown, Lester Hollis Brown, Elvia Lou Clouse, Leland Jay Brown, Cora Phene Cooley, and Mary Sue Lamb.

Pallbearers will be David Brown, Thomas Brown, Robert Palmer, Frankie Lindsey, Kevin Riley, and Junior Lamb.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
