MANTACHIE - Charles Adams, 92, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Countrywood Manor in Mantachie. He was born February 2, 1933, in Pelahatchie to Clarence Albert and Lanie Rebecca Rhodes Adams. Charles started A & M Sheetmetal in 1960 and owned and operated it until his son took over after his retirement in 1998. He served his country in the United States Air Force. After retirement, Charles enjoyed custom woodworking for his family. He was longtime member and Sunday school teacher at Shiloh Community Church and was a member of the Mantachie Lions Club. In his younger years, he umpired and coached little league baseball. Charles loved gardening and traveling, having visited all 50 states.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Ronnie Hill and the Rev. Danny Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Adams (Denise) and Tommy Adams (April), both of Mantachie; two daughters, Misty Shell, of Golden, and Marilyn Harrison (Roger) of Mooreville; eleven grandchildren, Natasha Brown (Curt), T.J. Adams (Becky), Bradley Adams (Lindsay), Zach Adams (Ashley), Tyler Adams, Jessica Jones (Derek), Caitlin Blansett (Alan), Courtney Veasey (Austin), Reed Stephens (Hope), Paten Davis (Bud), and Audrey Shell; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Turner Adams, Liam Adams, Lex Adams, Lincoln Blansett, Jamie Veasey, Madison Jones, Caleb Jones, Cannon Jones, Cohen Jones, Catelyn Brown, Caleb Brown, Finley Adams, Ivy Davis, Neomi Stephens, Ruby Davis, Claire Stephens, and Lennon Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wives, the mother of his children, Movline "Hobby" Cates Adams; Peggy Tucker Adams, and Ruvene Senter Adams; an infant son, Aaron Adams; two brothers, Bert Adams and Lee Adams; two sisters, Henrietta Shaw and Minnie Ree Adams; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Adams, Zach Adams, Bradley Adams, Turner Adams, Tyler Adams, Caleb Brown, and Reed Stephens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, and from 2 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Community Church.
