Audie Ray Shockley, 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home in east Tupelo. He was born December 23, 1944, in Itawamba County, to Audie Cecil and Francis Ray Shockley. He worked most his life in the tool and die at Krueger Metal (KI). In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing. He loved flower and vegetable gardening and was especially known for his amazing ability to grow turnip greens.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Henry Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Sarah Ashcraft of Mantachie; his caregivers and special nephews, Bradley Tahtinen and Duane Tahtinen; his sister-in-law, Linda Cosby, and her family, Nick Davis, Dakota Davis, and Keira Davis; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Pounds Shockley; three brothers, Wyman Moses, Junior Moses, and William Moses; two sisters, Jeanette Franks and Ophelia Hicks; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Ashcraft, Glenn Kennedy, Justin Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Allen Kennedy, and Dustin Kennedy.
Visitation will be from Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from noon until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
